Synopsis
After a one-year hiatus, Shinpachi Shimura returns to Edo, only to stumble upon a shocking surprise: Gintoki and Kagura, his fellow Yorozuya members, have become completely different characters! Fleeing from the Yorozuya headquarters in confusion, Shinpachi finds that all the denizens of Edo have undergone impossibly extreme changes, in both appearance and personality. Most unbelievably, his sister Otae has married the Shinsengumi chief and shameless stalker Isao Kondou and is pregnant with their first child. Bewildered, Shinpachi agrees to join the Shinsengumi at Otae and Kondou's request and finds even more startling transformations afoot both in and out of the ranks of the the organization. However, discovering that Vice Chief Toushirou Hijikata has remained unchanged, Shinpachi and his unlikely Shinsengumi ally set out to return the city of Edo to how they remember it. With even more dirty jokes, tongue-in-cheek parodies, and shameless references, Gintama' follows the Yorozuya team through more of their misadventures in the vibrant, alien-filled world of Edo. If you enjoyed the first season, there's no reason not to watch this one. Naturally, you'll want to continue the series. However, if you're still on the fence about Gintama, it's unlikely that Gintama' will change your mind. While the animation is more polished, this season doesn’t significantly improve upon the later parts of the original series. Towards the end of the first run, some gags were already starting to feel stale, though they were offset by a higher frequency of heartwarming and dramatic arcs. This season, however, feels like a step backward. Many jokes and premises are repeated, but not executed as well as before. There are still some great arcs, but the previous season had stronger ones overall. In summary, it's still a good season with a mix of dud jokes and standout arcs. While not the strongest installment in my opinion, it's essential viewing to keep up with the series.

A class of its own. There is the big 3. Naruto and Bleach had their share of the spotlights. Now One Piece seems to be sailing under the sun. And then there is Gintama. Unrankable, incomparable, unpredictable, hilarious, timeless Gintama. Gintama takes the best of all animes. Comedy, parody, slice of life, drama, period, science-fiction, tragedy and even romance... Gintama is truly a jack of all trades. Only this time master of all. As an anime lover, Gintama is a must-watch. It is not part of the big 3, it is far more than that. It truly is, thegreatest anime of all time.

We got the Madao Cardboard Song out of this! In seriousness though, Gintama' is one of the best animes out there bar none. The arcs were amazing, the humor was amazing, and we aren't a 4:3 aspect ratio from Gintama so that is certainly an upgrade as well. Story: Though there is a resemblance of a story, a bunch of arcs and humor are just glued together. We still have not seen the Amanto yet which is the entire synopsis of the anime. But at the same time, there were a lot of internal conflicts happening throughout the story. Animation: Beautiful. Sometimes it gets lazy but other thanthat there is really a lot of attention to detail. Amazing animation. Humor: Though humor is always subjective, this one stuck with me. The fact that the show was super self-aware is amazing. The one funeral episode will never be forgotten holy crap I died laughing at that episode. Honestly, that one funeral episode made the entire show a 10/10. The funeral episode may be one of the single greatest episodes of Anime ever, on par with The Broken Seal of Shonen Naruto, the Mazda RX7 Rising Suns battle episode of Initial D, or some others I cannot name off the top of my head. Amazing show. Why you should watch it: Well, one reason. It's goddamn Gintama that's why! It is in the top 10 for a reason. It is amazing. If you have not seen the first four seasons, watch that then this. By the way, if you are ever discouraged from starting Gintama, sip the first two episodes. Final Score: 10/10 Thanks! -CyanCheetah p.s the Gintama OP 9 is an amazing intro never be forgotten, also madao cardboard song has amazing music as well.

"You actually thought the staff members could handle two long arcs in a row?! Don't overestimate them!" - Kagura, Episode 252 (Gintama' 51) Continuing on from the foundation of Gintama (2006), Gintama' only improves. The long-awaited shift to 16:9 only enhances the series and there is a noticeable improvement in animation quality. However, the heart of the series remains unaffected as the character’s ruthless, self-referential comedy keeps the series from becoming something it isn’t. Gintama''s greatest strength is its characters. Whether considered a main character or part of the supporting cast, they all have their own eccentricities and unique viewpoints that make them stand out. New additions tothe cast are fleshed out in the short amount of time they have on screen, making them feel integral to the anime’s world. While some had been foreshadowed in the earlier series, others were introduced for the first time and yet it feels like they have always been there. This balancing act is difficult, yet Gintama’ pulls it off. The story is also quintessentially Gintama’, blending comedy with action and drama in an addictive way that makes it difficult to stop watching. There are more episodes dedicated to the longer arcs, allowing the story to develop in a familiar way while devoting more time to the action scenes. Yet they don’t hang around for longer than they need to; it never devolves to waiting for an arc to end. There is also more appreciation for the emotional moments… there were a lot in Gintama, but Gintama’ manages to improve on the format. The background plot also moves forward in a way that keeps it intriguing without sacrificing the looser structure, or themes, of Gintama’. This is a perfect continuation of the series, and if you love Gintama (2006) then Gintama’ will be one of the best shows you could watch. Everything that was done well at the start is improved upon and made even better.

Gintama is in 16:9! Honestly, that is a genuine improvement in this season of Gintama as well as the animation. The look of this season was so much nicer than the first season, of course, since it's newer. But I'm not here to talk about art style. I was pleasantly surprised with the arcs in this season. In the first 201 episodes, I enjoyed probably 85-90% of the arcs regardless of if they were comedy or not, but this season, I didn't dislike any arcs. There were a couple arcs that drug on a bit too long for my liking or were a bit too,for lack of a better word, stupid to be super good, but all the arcs this season had really awesome points that I loved. Of course, I'm talking about the comedy arcs here, and the main arcs are an entirely different story. The major story arcs this season didn't hit as hard as the serious arcs in the first 201 episodes. However, that being said, this season did remarkably well with the action scenes. Because of the improved animation, but also because of the stories of the two major story arcs, the fight scenes in this season looked gorgeous both in choreography and the contents. The stories themselves were interesting, though they felt more like build-up than anything else, which is fine. There was one particular episode that I was happy to see included as it offered some development for the antagonist that was lacking previously. In addition, there was some really good character development this season that stood out with a couple of the characters. Gintama still kills it, the comedy is still awesome and actually even better than before (though not as fourth-wall-breaky anymore), and the serious arcs still feel special. Most of this season was small, comedic arcs, but I loved it all the same. On to the next.

There is something that nobody talks about in gintama. Even though it's one of, if not the most important detail that most people can't seem to be able to accept. Gintama fans have to stop fleeing reality. This is the second season of Gintama, so you'll be watching this after 201 episodes of S1. I'll get right into it, no need to explain the world of this anime. In a seemingly normal episode, in that it's so crazy, Gintoki, after getting himself completely drunk, and forgetting what happened the night before, believes to have slept with 5 girls : otae, sarutobi, tsukuyo, kyubi, otose, and as if thatdidn't seem much, with hasegawa too(a midle aged man). everything makes him believe that he did sleep with them, as they make him take responsability. So the episode unfolds, it's as over the top as ever, it's very funny haha, but at the same time it makes you wonder : will character development and relationships change in the future ? well no : again, the funny haha : it turns out they all did this to make gintoki understand he shouldn't drink too much, as he had wrecked the bar they drank too. so it ends, relationships stay the same, the very funny. but do they? the thing is... at the end of the episode... played like a joke... Hasegawa... reveals he wasn't part of the plan. Yes. You heard me. He wasn't part of the part of the plan to make gintoki believe he slept with him to make him understand he shouldn't drink too much. You understand what I mean. You remember your sealed memories. Chaos unfolds into your mind as I call you back to reality. But you won't overcome your traumas by rejecting them. Gintoki did have a sexual relationship with hasegawa. this relationship, a very important one, isn't touched upon later in the series. but this is how it is. as important as this relevation may seem : meaning that the show will never be the same, it won't be the funny haha joke, but the very serious hoho, there's also the fact that Gintoki rejects having slept with Hasegawa. Though it's said by hattori he had a smile after spending 20 minutes alone with Hasegawa the former night. yes. That's the final important revelation I have for you. Gintoki is Homosexual, and he rejects it. wether you want to ignore this as most fans, or accept it and move on : it's a very important thing that you should take into account as you go into Gintama S2 and onward.

I really like the weirdness, randomness, and epic (I would like to put ness there but there is no word epicness. Hahaha) of Hideaki Sorachi. The author of this anime is really sly! Seriously, I've been laughing the whole time, even the first season of it and at the end is. Ah! Spoiler! Anyway, I would not write it. Even some people say that this anime is --- whatever, but setting aside those jokes you would see that this anime is really unique. Even if some of the episodes are not really connected or not in the series it is woven neatly. I really likethe opening and closing song of Gintama. Maybe, we have the same taste of music. When you watch Gintama the remarkable would be the seiyuu. I love how the seiyuu of Gintoki, Shinpachi and Kagura portrays or give life to the character. I like how the seiyuu of Gintoki energetic voice the word troublesome in Japanese. Even when reading the manga it echoes in my ear. I just want to give them a round of applause because this is the first time I appreciate the seiyuu. When it comes to character I like the stupidness of the characters. I did enjoy watching this anime.

Gintama and Godly both start with G, coincidence? This anime is the pure essence of entertainment. You will laugh, you will cry, you will become emotional invested in a variety of ways. Not having watched this anime is like missing out on a classic movie and that means that you haven't fully lived yet. I watch an episode every night before I go to sleep so that I can sleep in pure comfort and relaxation. Watching Gintama for me is not a hobby. It is a life style. I HIGHLY recommend this show to anyone who likes anime and especially comedies.

My favorite Anime of all time because it has all i ever wanted. All the Gintama Seasons are just brilliant.

Gintama In my opinion it's one of my favorites ^^ And here is why : Story : When you first read the main story of it you may think it's an ordinary boring series of three guys living some adventures together .but actually it's not full of that normal nichijou (daily life) of most of this kind of anime's characters , It's actually full of surprising events . Even if some of its episodes are repeated but they got their own trait. Music : Including internal music , openings and endings It's great ! It's suitable for this kind of anime. It makes you got excited when you watch the pivotal moments. Characters : The best thing that makes Gintama special is the characters. Every single character in the series has his/her own unique personality . Even if he/she is not a main character. Other thing that even if this anime rate is +13 but it's suitable for people who are more than 17 y.o like me ^^ because a lot of its events are similar to reality . Last thing , the comedy scenes are really amazing I advise people who want to enjoy an anime full of comedy to watch Gintama.

I've seen many anime videos and movies and etc, and Gintama has to be one of those I could re-watch over and over again! I like how this anime has its serious points where the main character would be the B.A and the lights would shine on him, then suddenly, it goes a completely different way and ends unexpectedly. Not only that, but they do quote things that have to do with life, which when you look at, is true. This anime is random. It's filled with action, comedy, drama, bits of horror, and lots of copy right mentioned titles you might recognize! The characters areperfect in many aspects as well. Unique in their own way, but together, they make up the perfect team. A slacker of a leader, a monster of a girl, and Four-eyes. I wouldn't say it's for everyone. Gintama isn't concentrated on one genre, rather, it's mixed with everything. Story: It's hard to say, but there's enough arcs to explain the placement of the story. Art: Not the best, not the worst, but just right. Sound: everything's fine. No blotching. Characters: every character is unique, but they're all trolls. Enjoyment: not really for all serious purpose. Overall: Funny, action-packed, life quotes, great!

I've heard of this anime for a long time, but never got into it because there's so many episodes and I didn't want to start from the beginning...So I jumped into Season 6. After watching a few episodes, including the classics within Season 6, I asked myself "What took me so long to get into Gintama!?" I love the humor, the characters and that was enough to get me hooked. I wouldn't mind starting from Season 1, but I'll do that once I finish Season 6.

Gintama is the most hilarious series I’ve ever seen in my more than a decade of watching animes and reading mangas. It is number one on my top lists of best animes in comedy and in the top ten on my hundred lists of best animes in the history of anime world. So when I learned that they are coming back, I was more than delighted, I was so thankful for the whole production who decided to bring them back. There’s a long review coming……….. About the STORY First, I strongly believe that you wouldn’t be able to appreciate this to the extent if you haven’t watched theprevious one. Let me also just mention that the last episode of the previous one didn’t felt like it was the ending and so this new anime adaptation is really like a continuation. And the very first episode is really a blast, a very appropriate opening episode for this amazing series. The jokes, comical acts, and most especially the parodies are more hilarious than ever. Not that I didn’t love the hilarious lines from the previous one but this time it is polish even more. Not only they are making parodies about several other famous series but this time they are doing some international TV series as well which are extremely hilarious. The arcs are even better and a lot more exciting and interesting. As much as I love how the different arcs from the previous one was made but the truth is, there were a lot of moments that it became so dramatic and too cliché. The lines were also too damn cheesy when they were trying to make it cool but instead it became so mushy and cheesy. But to my surprise and delight, this time the arcs improve a lot and when I say a lot as in drastically. The drama is more expressed in a way that it is no longer over the top. It is a lot more clean and very much touching. Even the dialogues or lines are nicer; it is delivered so well that it really brings out the coolness of the words and the characters who are delivering them. It is also so amazing how the serious lines are well incorporated with hilarious lines. It makes the lines even greater. Until now, it is still bewildering yet very much amazing how the mangaka is able to create such jokes and parodies. Sometimes, it is just insane how he is able to that because there are even jokes and parodies that you wouldn’t normally think would be funny at all. But for the mangaka, he can even make the smallest things and most ordinary in our everyday life so hilarious. About the CHARACTERS Like I said, you wouldn’t understand this if you haven’t watched the first one. That also goes with the characters. In the previous series, even for a very long airing time or many episodes, there were very few characters whose backgrounds were expressed enough. I guess, the protagonists and main characters were the only ones who had revelations about their pasts. In fact, even for them it was still not enough or not everything about them was known. So I am very grateful that this time, even the supporting characters’ backgrounds are being revealed. The characters are made even cooler and a lot more amazing most especially Gin-chan who I love more and more. Not that I didn’t love his character from the previous series but you could say his character is even more polished. About the ANIMATION and SOUND I really don’t know how to express it enough but for some reasons the animation is definitely even better. It gives off a feeling of watching an anime film. Let’s not forget how the fight scenes improve a lot as well. Even for a comedy type of series, Gintama has one of the best fight scenes in the anime world and you could even compare it to some famous action series of today. And in this new adaptation, it is just brilliant. It could even be compared with a film. It is very detailed which brings out the amazing movements of the characters while fighting. Even the sounds are greater than ever. It gives the whole thing a complete package. The amazing music gives the final touch to the series. Indeed, there are tons of improvements and almost every element is polish. Not that I don’t love as much the previous one but I will admit that there were really space for improvements. I could definitely say that this time, Gintama is at its best so far. I was really sad when they’ve decided to end the series because this series is one of the very few which I genuinely want to continue watching in anime adaptation. To be honest, I just want it to continue even for so many years. Even when the time comes when I am too old to move much, I would want to still watch this magnificent series. NO ONE DO PARODIES LIKE GINTAMA DOES.

This is my first review and i'm not really that good with writing in English. But I'll do my best. Story-10: I think overall Gintama has a pretty good story with comedy, action, to drama and I always have that feeling of satisfaction in every episode .Gintama Season 2 never really gets me bored. I find the comedy in season 2 better than the first somehow. I literally cried out of laughter. The serious arcs were also pretty epic and has a beautiful story to it. So i give it a 10 Art-9: Not much really change in art. It's much more high quality though but Ithink that its best for Gintama. The art style on the fight scenes also improved alot. And the facial expressions on the Characters are alot more funnier than it used to. Sound-9: The music in Gintama' is pretty epic. The OPs and EDs are awsome. And I really enjoy the background music in every episode and it really gives life and the mood of the scene.Still I give it a 9 Characters-10: Characters in Season 2 is still awsome as they were in season 1. With new characters showing that makes Gintama even more awsome. Definitely a 10. Enjoyment-10: Hell yeah it was awsome! In Gintama, every episode is epic to the core. It's really fun to watch, especially the serious arcs. All in all I give it a 10. If it's possible maybe an 11, but that's just me. :D Overall-10: Gintama is fun anime that I really. Each episode is worth it. And the comedy killed me. And the fight scenes are very epic and badass.

Gintama'.. I began watching this anime, unfortunately, so late.. So I couldn't feel the excitement you get when you're waiting for something you love.. and I LOVE Gintama.. from the very first episode till the end, Gintama kept me interested, made me lmao and sometimes even cry (even though at the end there was always a twist ^^) It has everything you can expect from an anime in it.. Definitely one of the best (for me the best) anime, and if you're not watching because you think that it is overrated, the only thing that will take to change your mind is the very first episode.. People, just give it a try, I guarantee that you definitely will not regret.. Note: If you guys don't make a third season, Sunrise, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you. Fin~

its nearly one year since the second season of Gintama has started and the loyal fans can remember the Joy and the life it gave us back then when it was aired again.the story that once was supposed to be about an school for demon dispellers and then about the Shinsengumi finally turned into something bizzare called Gintama which u can say is the Golden Work of Hideaki Sorachi. the beginning of the second season is a perfect example of a great parody episode with updated jokes about famous Mangas which will make you burst into laugh if you only know about the parodies.although i amnot suggesting to start this anime without watching the first season.but that's not the first thing that will get your attention.that would be Opening and later the Ending.yeah they are catchy and Gintama-like and thats a Plus for me.the rest is your regular Gintama.normal funny episodes with some serious arcs between them that focuses on the main story.well some say Gintama doesn't have a main story but i disagree.the first serious arc focuses on Gintoki's Mother Figure character aka Otose and her background story which introduce a monster that was in love with Otose.as a final touch for this arc we have the Takasugi group and their progress as well as the new Kamui and Takasugi alliance which can be a real threat for Gintoki since Kamui is like the Second King of the Night and Gintoki had to gang the first one up to defeat him.this arc is filled with emotional scenes and a lot of characters from the previous season which is a good way to start the news season.the later serious and important arc is a Thorny arc about the beloved Shinsengumi with a new semi cool villain that uses a combo of Sword and Gun.oh and lets not forget the cool collaboration of GintamaxSketdance which is created by Sorachi’s previous assistant and have the same theme as Gintama.this episode also used the chance to parody the latest collaboration between Onepiece and Toriko.all and all unlike the first season this one starts pretty good since it is already shaped before and the timing was good as well. Characters in Gintama Have many chances for development even in normal comical episodes because of Gintama’s bizzare storyline.you can almost see most of the important characters in normal episodes.although they are just there for the sake of the comedy they are adding features to their own characters or at the very least sometimes they make them selves look cool which in results give them more fans.but since they have these chances often and all of em have potential its still a shame that they couldn’t use them better.(except for those that won’t show up for a long time even though they could).thats why although all the characters in Gintama are likeable pretty much the only one that most of us can call special is either Kagura or Gintoki himself (sorry to other character’s fans.i am a Kamui and Tsuki fan myself but if I have to make a list of top favorite characters they won’t be in the top 10…) as i said before the first thing you will notice about this season is the music.the ost used in the first serious arcs is a great piece of work and i love how they make special soundtracks for each serious arc.the voice actors in this anime are experienced and well known ppl that we all have good memories from them with previous characters they voiced which you may find this as one of the Gintama Jokes like how Toshiro uses the catch phrase of “Let’s Party” which belongs to another character also voiced by the same voice actor.although some of the voice actors didn’t had any real challenge or opportunity to show themselves in my opinion Gintoki’s Voice actor didn’t do as good as the first season and he seemed more lively to me in the first season but still he did great and professional job and its just an expectation I had from him based on his previous works. as for the animation you can say the budget is saved for serious arc or battle scenes like the graveyard scene but still its better than the first season so it’s a plus for the fans of the previous one.the art is still as good as always with little improvement and its easy on the eyes as for the score I will give it a 9.5 from 10 but will round it to 10/10 in here.all and all Gintama is a bizzare anime that managed to catches this bizzareness from manga pretty good and i think the animators and the studio did a great job and gave life and color to the manga with each episode. its a shame that the series is coming to an end again but in my opinion its better this way since they finished it like a boss without filling it with fillers and will probably come back like a boss as well.

また いつか! [Mata Itsuka] [See you Again Someday!]. Gintama' is not the end of the Gintama Anime. [ REVIEW ] DONDAKEEEE!!Gintama' is a series that, without doubt, captures almost every important essence of Anime (Comedy, Action, Drama, etc.) all within one show. While it may be true that Gintama is mainly focused on the comedy aspect, the series is able to embody many action scenes, especially in the Arcs, as well as drama and sadness. Contrary to popular belief, many don't want to start watching Gintama either because the series is too long, too 'overrated' in their eyes, or just does not pique their interest. However, when you actually get around to giving the series a chance, you will not be disappointed, and you will definitely be hooked. The Second airing of the Gintama Anime proves to be as enjoyable as the first one. Despite being shorter (51 episodes), Gintama' managed to pull off arcs filled with action, hilarious comedy, and more lovable characters (Such as Jugem-Jugem!) The second season also has a more improved animation style and a widescreen showing, unlike the first one. This is a definite plus for the show. It's really tough to describe Gintama in a review. So, if you're sitting down reading this one, I only have one thing to say: GO watch. And, don't forget, this is not the end. Gintama will definitely come back one day.

Edit after episode 13: I cried big wet tears at the excellent storytelling and well placed character development. SUCH. BIG. TEARS. I was skeptical as hell for the return of the Gintama anime. To be honest, I went into this anime wanting to slam it as hard as possible, especially upon seeing it's overbearingly high-score. But I won't, because to be frank, I can't. I don't really think a lot of reviews, complex and heavily-illustrated need to be written about this anime to get a feel for what it's about so let me get straight to the point: It's ridiculous over-the-top comedy, plain and simple. Of courseyou can't forget the awesome stories built from these insane gags, too. The scripting, the scenario, specifically the way that the anime envelops you inside - making you a returning character as well, are all ingeniously meshed together. And of course, after five years... brought to you in 16:9 format. ...With even better songs than ever (hard to believe, I know). If you haven't seen Gintama before, I recommend checking it out, and I know 201 episodes sounds like a grueling task, but after seeing the pilot episode for the second series, I was left more than satisfied. This episode is reason alone to watch the over two-hundred preceding it. Even if you're familiar with Gintama and think you're ready for Gintama', let me be the first to tell you; you aren't. Note: I don't believe this review needs to be edited every week, as most episodes are either episodic or self-contained within an arc. If you've braved the first 201 episodes, don't miss season two.

When you REALLY love a certain anime and hear it's going to end, you weep a little inside. So is Gintama, and the news of the new season were salvation to many sad Gintabros all over the globe. That's right. The #1 show is back - and I am damn excite, son. To any of you who haven't watched the first season, please do. but if you wouldn't want to commit yourself to a 201 episode show, feel free to just skip ahead to season two and try an episode or two. The storyline's arranged in inconsistent arcs, meaning you can pick it up from any arc- as long as you get an explanation on the origins of the different characters. I assume all of you know the general setting - a Samurai who lives in a modern era in which aliens are a part of our (humans) daily lives. There's an ongoing ban on swords, so being a Samurai is obviously forbidden by law. Though there's no rule against a wooden sword, is there? In the last year, our friendly studio Sunrise had enough time to stack up material for a long-lasting second season, while our beloved mangaka had time to improve and write arcs which without a doubt - have the Gintama effect. Holding tears in your throat, and two minutes later laughing like a maniac - only to be in tears again a few minutes later. The long touchy speeches are back, the unexpected plot turns are back, everything we longed for in this Gintama-less year, is back. It might be important to specify the fact that Gintama is now well funded, and is in HD. Can you imagine seeing Gintoki pick his nose in 720p?! Insane!!! The first arc is the comeback we all wished for, every character you knew is making an appearance, though you should ready yourself for a surprise - they've all changed. I promise this - starting at the first 15 seconds up to the end of the 24 minutes of awesome, you'll be smiling, laughing, perhaps even crying if you're touchy. Enjoy.
