Synopsis
Beginning her academic journey as a first grader, Shiori comes face to face with the aspect of school she has heard alarming rumors about—homework! However, her worries quickly turn into excitement as the Asahigaoka girls agree to work together to complete their assignments at Komari and Natsumi Koshigaya's house. Their plan appears to be successful until an all-too-familiar feeling of procrastination creates a rowdy distraction for Natsumi. On another day, Natsumi asks her teacher Kazuho Miyauchi if she can form and lead a new badminton school club. While the lack of funding and equipment proves to be a major setback, it does not stop Natsumi and the other girls from asking the candy store owner Kaede Kagayama for some help. During their spontaneous badminton practice, a minor accident leads Kaede to reminisce about a memorable day when she babysat Renge Miyauchi. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Why Non Non Biyori has to come to an end? I wish the author just give us more little stories like those gigantic Doraemon or Shin-chan series. The journey of Ren-chon and everyone is just so bittersweet that I want to savour it forever... Why is it bittersweet you might ask? I'm aware that the characters in this anime are sometimes quite comical, but there are always moments you can tell that is real and precious. Like the calm before the storm, just so quiet yet beautifully undescribable. In my opinion, more slice of life should take a note of Non non Biyori, you don't need dramato make a realistic slice of life, not to mention many shows tend to used forced drama to progress the story, that's a no-go for me. And about the characters, I love the uniqueness of the cast, they are colorful yet they support each others very well, I never felt any characters lacking of personalities. That's what happened when you developed your characters with care and love. Overall, I recommend this wonderful series to anyone who love anime out there, especially those who's going through tough time, I know I did a few years ago, and this has helped me a lot.

Wow, definitely had me a little emotional as this might be the very end of this amazing journey. This OVA manages to keep all those same things that we love about the show and the characters. The subtle comedy, picture-perfect Japanese countryside, beautiful background music; the sounds of water, wind etc. are all so well done. A little bit of every character is shown (from the episodes and the movie). It's a trip down memory lane. A really good concluding episode for the series as a whole. It was great to see Honoka again after her introduction to the show late last season. If thereis one thing that I had to nitpick, it would be Hotaru. Wish we had seen a little bit more of her house and interactions in this OVA. If you loved the series I would definitely recommend that you watch this, it ties everything up nicely!

Non Non Biyori is always great at eliciting a range of bittersweet emotions along with an incredible sense of calm and serenity...plus just enough humor to keep things fresh and unsentimental. This OVA is no different, and my only disappointment is that we may never get any more stories from this incredible little country town. The first part of the OVA is devoted to homework, and the second to Nattsun's desire to start a badminton club. When you find out why she was inspired to do this, it's an especially sweet moment...but then again that entire half of the OVA is packed with great material. Not every character gets to shine in this single episode, but there are lots of cameos to at least ensure few characters are overlooked or forgotten. Stay until the very end to get a small ray of hope. It's always sad for anything in Non Non Biyori to end, but don't forget that you can watch everything again from the start. This OVA means that you have one more small gem to add to that rewatch list, and for that I'm thankful.

All good things come to an end, and what an absolutely beautiful ending this was, this OVA concludes almost all the remaining adaptable material for Non Non Biyori and delivers an excellent stand alone episode for this series. While I do hope this series gets more content one day, I am pretty satisfied with everything we got. The pristine and photorealistic art is in full display, possibly even better than the main series, really bringing to life the amazing Japanese country side in all its splendor. Animation quality was also quite solid, the badminton scene had surprisingly fluid animation, reminded me of the movie. Sound design isstill quite enjoyable with a very tranquil and immersive entrance and consistently effective background sound effects that bring the countryside to life. The splatter of rain and the light whistle of the wind, the sliding doors in the school, the footsteps in the class, all of it are just so wonderfully done and perfectly complement the scenes they accompany. Getting to see our favorite cast one last time was excellent as well, quite happy Shiori was included and Renge is always a joy to watch. Every main girl got some screen time and at least a single highlight moment. Overall this OVA concludes the series in a happy and mundane way, true to the rest of the series and fits perfectly with the general theme of a wistful country side life, solid 8 out of 10 and I would highly recommend it.
