At the Border Defense Agency's headquarters, the B-Rank Wars are underway as each team fights intensely to secure a spot in the upcoming Away Mission. Though Osamu Mikumo and the rest of Tamakoma-2 have pulled through thus far, the final rounds will require them to push far beyond the limits of their current abilities. Taking in a talented new member, the squad begins to train and develop new strategies, but, amid these efforts, the team is shaken by a heated dispute—one that could jeopardize their ticket to the Neighbor's dimension. I was recommended this show from a friend of mine. Myself and most of my friends all follow esports and are huge nerds. This is by far the best anime for "esport" things and stuff. I think the idea of the show would one day make the Olympics and things one day in the future super super fun to watch on the big screen or in live. The fight scenes and how everyone thinks and all the metas that each character have to learn is sooo cool. Every character has their own style of fighting and each character has to find a way to countertheir style which I love and my friend loved. Season 1 was rough on the animation I feel like, but as the seasons go on, the animation gets really good. Each character in the background is hilarious in their own way and it brings a nice soft tone, but in times, the show can be dark. Multiple scenes where a character is close to death of some sort, then 5 minutes later. Everyone is laughing and having a good time and it lightens the mood the best way. Final opinion, this show is REALLY REALLY underrated and I hope they continue and I hope more people pick this anime up!

A straight follow on from s3. Overall the anime is good and a massive improvement from s1. The last 2 episodes were very good, the quality of the fights and animation increased even down to how the camera followed the fights, everything was an improvement. My only criticism of s3 is I feel there is way too much talking in between fights, way too much talking of their tactics and how they hope things will pan out, this definitely could be cut down to quicken the pace of things. Overall. 7/10 I’d like to keep this as short as possible but it’s asking me to write moreso….. I feel osamu definitely as a character needs to be worked on, he’s boring and way over hyped/praised for his contribution in the show.

I just finished re-watching all 3 seasons yesterday, and I can say that this season is the best. Why? First, The Animation got better well, of course, the 1st season was released in 2014 so yeah it's no surprise if the animation got better but are we just watching anime that had a good animation or visual? so the next point is the story Second, The Story, this is the sequel from the last 2 seasons so it is mostly about the rank wars, but what I was gonna say is how this season tells the story, its not boring like the 1st season which hada lot of made-up jokes that trying hard to be funny (for me at least) its more dramatic than the 2nd season, because of the Chika backstory and the studio really successful on bringing the emotion to the viewers Third, Sound (OST, SFX, ETC) the OST mostly comes from 1st season too, and that's good I love it because Kenji Kawai-san knows what he's doing. for the SFX, it improved a lot since the 1st season,, this season really brings up the fight scene alive because of the SFX is just too damn good, not like any other anime who bass boost any skills. for the OP and ED its good I guess Fourth, Character I love the character development in this anime, not just in this season. At first, I thought "Damn Kuga must be OP because he's a neighbor" on the 1st season yeah he's OP but not on the 2nd and 3rd seasons, and i just realized that he's OP because he's had more experience than other Border Agent, when he met with a more experienced agent, of course, he lost. The same with Osamu, he realized he's weaker than anyone, and now he overcome it with a good battle strat, and Chika she's overcome her fear in this season and that's really good.

A self stylized "Grounded Shonen" which has some of the best world building and tactic focused combat. This is one of the most fiercely intelligent shows I've watched in a while when it comes to fighting, this isn't "super sayian beat by super sayian 2", this is anyone can beat anyone if their tactics are better, but at the same time still a clear hierarchy of skill sets so you know who the underdog is and who isn't. The later half and biggest chunk is a bunch squad vs. squad combat when it really comes into its own and it's all abouttactics, flanking manoeuvres, bluffing, misdirection, and using established tools, abilities, and weapons in new unique and creative ways. A lot of fights don't boil down to "whose stronger", they boil down to which team thought the most steps ahead or could adapt to a changing situation the quickest. However, biggest pitfall is it's TOEI production which means it can be maddeningly inconsistent at times in regards to animation, pacing, and repetition is especially bad in the early episodes. The first 8-14 episodes are kind of a slog and often large chunks of later episodes are dedicated to recaps of previous episodes. The characters are also a tad more "muted" for my interest, but that might be to the show's benefit for the kind of action scenes it wants to show. But, if you skip the lengthy recaps (luckily most of them are at the beginning of every episode) and get passed the initial rough boring slog the show steadily improves itself in every problem area from episode 20 onward, getting better pacing, animation, and subtle exposition. The first season ended in 2014, but it came back with a season 2 and 3 (26 episodes total) in 2021 and the sequel stuff is TOP NOTCH. All the issues I listed above are gone and with all the pieces/world building well established it is 26 episodes of minimal recap, solid to gorgeous animation, and all the other squad tactical stuff that made the first season good.

Overall, World Trigger has been a series with a solid backbone and an interesting central hook to its plot. There are a lot of supporting characters in the story universe, and they are well balanced and adequately explored. The character developments have been slow at times, but overall satisfactory in terms of seeing progression. The art quality was great, and no fault can be found with its sound design. This is a quality show that I would recommend to others. Having seen all three seasons, I have just two critiques: 1. Pacing-wise, I think the anime could have progressed with the main plot quicker, rather than givingus 3 seasons (and likely more) of the main characters playing in a safe mode sandbox. Much of the story's initial hook takes place in the real world with real world consequences (think Yuma's time left in his trion body, what will happen to him in the future?). Aside from a Neighbor invasion on Earth, the majority of the show was about teams competing in harmless e-tournaments. Sure, they are training sessions, but it's hard to get excited about what they're training towards if this is all that we're shown. 2. Closely related to that is the over-analysis of each training session, usually by the tournament commentators. Arena-style shows have been tried and tested, and it can be a powerful way to highlight characteristics (usually strengths) of a character. The Grand Magic Games in Fairy Tail is a great example. But in this show, I find the pattern a little overused. Every 5 minute battle scene is usually backed by another 3 - 5 minutes of rewind + explanation, some of which I'm sure the audience can already infer from watching the action. Perhaps it is to tailor to audiences of all age ranges. Personally, I find the lulls between actions rather anti-climatic and detrimental to enjoyment.

So I don't really like to write those long reviews that take hours upon hours to make and frankly speaking , nobody reads them so here's my take to this season . This season was so much better in every category than the previous 2 . From the story to the animation (which in my opinion was countless times better) to the sound effects , the character development and the corny things like Hyuse fighting in solo ranking gave the anime another hidden level of enjoyment. That said , I think they could've made the fights a little bit more unpredictable . The previous 2seasons were really realistic , the fights that couldn't be won like in the other fight with Ninomiya squad they lost , it would've been nice for a change to make unexpected things happen like Hyuse getting more guys with his scorpion or Osamu being useful . (even if this isn't their fault since the manga man decided this but still , it is kinda boring)

World Trigger goes hard as a team-strategy shonen, though I remember season 1 having a bit worse animation than 2 and 3. Otherwise, it's an interesting watch, but I can see people finding themselves annoyed with certain obstacles the characters face. Nonetheless, the fights and growth of Tamakoma are a lovely watch, and I find it difficult not to root for them the whole time. The show has an insane number of characters, but I don't find it annoying and distancing from the viewer like what I experienced with MHA. Overall, everyone's human in this show, so no one is too overpowered that strength alonecan win a fight. Nonetheless, the fights are pretty great anyways if you care more about that. I'm not sure what would happen in season 4, but assuming it has its fair share of fights and strategizing as well, it'll probably also be a good watch. Great show! Never really got bored of it even though the first season's animation almost put me off for a second.

Welcome from my earlier reviews. If not, do read them, since they are all pieces of one big puzzle. We are at the final review! Thanks for reading all the reviews (if you did)! S3 was announced almost as soon as S2 finished. Given how S2 ended, I was eager with anticipation to see how the tournament arc would be concluded. And I sure wasn’t disappointed. As our lead trio is getting used to working together in a squad, with each season showcasing their growth as Border soldiers and individuals. But everything is not a bed of roses. As they grew from strength to strength, from sheer potential, their flaws start to become more and more prominent, to the point that it would prove their downfall, if not addressed. This season, therefore, chooses to focus on their weaknesses and how they overcome it in a real-life situation (real life for them ie). They are also joined by a new member, in addition to their operator (who has been present since S1 mind you), which makes the trio a quad, overhauling their existing tactics and options due to this new introduction. As was the case with S2, we get a strong emphasis on the optimal use of powers, with more information given on them. What however stood out for me in this season was the fact that it was the most character focused season of the 3. Two of the lead characters are seen to be the weak links, albeit for different reasons. Both of them have been aware of this from S1 and seek to overcome that or doom the fate of their squad. The series presents their situation quite realistically and provides a satisfying solution to those challenges. It doesn’t do this by a power creep, but by actual character development. Such a joy of a series to watch! The art and animation like S2 is great to watch, with the particular standouts being episode 13 and 14 to a certain extent. Episode 13 in particular was a joy to behold and been a while since I’ve really noticed the animation. Music was great as always and have to say that I’m really starting to enjoy them a lot, often listening to them in my free time. And seeing as I am basically repeating what I said, I’ll conclude by saying that as of the end of S3, there has been 20 odd chapters. Meaning, that we won’t be getting a S4 anytime soon. That being said, I think the series has done enough for me to look forward to what the mangaka offers for the future of the genre. It has been a while since I’ve been this moved by a battle Shounen and I will take the time to revisit some of my older favourites and also try out some other works which have been in plan to read/watch list, until we get S4. Thanks for reading my reviews

This is one of my favorite series in the entire history of anime and one that I've been following for quite some time now, since 2019 when I watched the first season, following by the announcement of the second season and ending the airing of the third season yesterday, these are my true thoughts of this latest season. Story: 10 It has a complicated situation from the beginning, little by little some new but familiar characters are included at the same time, this together with the high level of planning and strategy with which we are used to, added with a proper balance of all the triggersmake it the best closure of this great arc, which has been present practically from the beginning of the series. Art: 10 I have not seen many Toei anime, DBZ and little else, but you can tell that the animators put too much love, especially at the beginning and at the end, quite well constructed shots of all the main venues, Tamakoma, Border, the barracks, the maps of the meetings, this along with a beautiful animation of the last 2 episodes, taking as honorable mention the final assault between Tamakoma-2 and Ninomiya squadron, simply masterful. Sound: 9 The OP exudes joy, sadness, nostalgia, fear, surprise, all possible emotions for a true fan of the series, the new OST themes incorporated, called "Determination" and "Action" are the icing on the cake for key moments and high tension, along with some old ones, such as "Elite Talented". The ED is pretty calm and serene, it could have been better, but it was pretty good. Character: 9 Avoiding some spoilers, the building and consolidation of Chika and Osamu, two of the main characters, is among the best for shounen standards. Worries, despair and uncertainty disappear in order to finish what started that day. Yuma and Hyuse shine as always, not for nothing are they the aces of the team. Other mentors like Jin, Karasuma, Reiji and Konami are always there when needed. Enjoyability: 10 From chapter 1 to 14 I have been largely happy with the outcome, in the transition, strategy, commentary, unraveling and ending chapters. I have not felt dissatisfied in any chapter, in fact, each chapter leaves me wanting to continue with the story and to know what will happen with the main team. Overall: 10 This is the season that brings together all the good and the best of the franchise, it reaches the highest point of the whole plot, a great production, tension and unmatched expectation, all to finally create a spectacular final product for the most insistent followers, and also for the not so insistent. As a final comment, if you are reading this and have not yet seen the series, I highly recommend you watch it. If you are looking for a strategy series, where it's not all about fights, lights and special effects, one where you truly explore the world and even the universe, one where you are interested in seeing the growth of the characters, their various facets, desires, fears, values, objectives, goals, all this with high level animation and sound, World Trigger is definitely a good alternative, if not the best. Very good wishes to sensei, Daisuke Ashihara, I hope his condition improves very soon, to all the production staff of the series, for making it happen, I hope the next meeting is not in the distant future. Trigger off.
Desperationation
World Trigger scratches an itch that many people don't even know they have. With an extremely well-crafted and balanced power system that is laid down to the viewer, before being utilized in various fun and creative ways, and strategies that are quite impressive and well thought out. Couple that with a huge cast of characters that are all quite well developed in their own right, and manage to get their fair share of screentime in spite of how many characters are in the show. This is where the polarizing nature of the show comes though, as most people usually disregard side characters and do not care aboutthe dialog-heavy moments in this series, coupled with the long strategy talks. But this is not that kind of show. World Trigger values teamwork above all, understanding your own flaws in battle and how you can overcome them. Alongside how to utilize your team member to their fullest, give them the most appropriate guidance and work well together under pressure. This is where the dialog scenes are very important, as they do not explain nor go over stuff to then be forgotten down the line. Character interactions play an extremely significant role in this series, be it characters asking for advice, going to eat together, or simply having a solo match together, this allows every character to grow, and for their combat to improve significantly. Making them all very essential to the overall complexity of these characters and the power system the series is building. This in turn, allows many characters to shine, as each character has their own motivations and fighting styles, that the main team then needs to figure out answers for. These answers explain to the viewer the limits of each agent, making the viewers themselves start thinking of possible outcomes and strategizing with the agents present in battle. And that is how World Trigger hooks its fans, with no signs of power creep looming over it, since it's still a shounen series, it is more about execution than it is about flashiness. It never goes over the top, nor does it try to impress with new power transformation after another. And that ironically, makes it stand out among its peers.

Now I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. I love World Trigger. I really do. But it's kind of shit. World Trigger has by far one of the best shonen power systems I've ever seen. It's in-depth and well thought out, allowing for levels of tactical warfare I didn't think was capable in a mere shonen series. However pretty much everything else is lacking as a result of this heavy focus. The plot is fine...It's really nothing special. The main crew want to go to space and fight the big evil dudes that kidnapped their friends and shit, but they have to get onthe team that's doing the mission. And so they have to win a series of fights and get enough points to be eligible for the mission. The biggest issue here is the pacing...once again. Since if you're bothering to read this review you probably know about it from the previous seasons, but the pacing in this show is just so...so bad. We get several episodes of hype for each fight, but there's not enough subplots in this stretch to pad it out, and many of the ones that do get focus don't really contribute enough to be distracting us from the main story. There's actually a lot of smaller subplots here that are mostly character based. Osamu especially gets a lot of focus as he questions his competence as a leader...again. Chika's arc is the most interesting because it's a drastic shift from her previous character progression that recontextualises her character in an interesting way. Hyuse is also a good addition to the cast dynamic, as his battle hardened experience and stoicism bounce off well against Yuuma's more playful childishness and Osamu's insecurity. But most importantly, it is his willingness to push Chika that really produces some of the most interesting drama the show's had for a while. But this is where the show kind of fails. Aside from what we've got from Chika, there's a severe lack of depth for these characters. Hyuse is an alien who is from an entirely different culture, but because of his stoicism and the way the show handles it, his perception of life here on earth is never really explored, and we don't understand his goals and motivations aside from what is literally told to us by Hyuse himself. Osamu wants to help Chika and do the right thing. He is extremely insecure because he feels like he holds his team back due to his own incompetence and low power level. However this is once again where is characterisation ends. We don't really understand what drives his sense of righteousness - it's never explored. But the greatest problem with his character is that he is currently going over the same arc over and over again. New challenger approaches - Osamu feels insecure, he doubts himself and works on a strategy. The strategy works and he is validated (or if we're feeling daring it doesn't work and his arc is prolonged further). Then rinse and repeat. I get that it's part of his character that he is insecure, but it doesn't feel very organic to see him trapped in this character progression loop that makes us feel like he is going in circles. Now Yuuma wasn't always an empty character. When first introduced he was quickly found to be goofy but wise and battle-hardened. A somewhat distant character, Yuuma seemed to be holding out some secret - which turned out to be the fact that he is dying. However since it was brought up, Osamu mentioned how he will try to fix the problem, and it has never been brought up again in any meaningful way. As a result Yuuma has had no development on his character at all. He is the most static of all the team and there really wasn't much the show could do to develop his character - which means that he simply needed to be placed in new situations so we could learn more of his character. When a character can't be progressed, they can still have development placed on who they are now, and flesh out some of their morals and values a bit more. Yuuma as he is now is just an empty box that was once an interesting character. Now this is a combination of poor characterisation and poor character design, but the various teams that Tamakoma-2 end up facing in the rank wars often feel completely forgettable. They are mostly either tall adult-looking characters or short-ish teenagers. However they all have a uniformity to them that makes these characters very difficult to distinguish without multiple repeat viewings. What makes any of them even somewhat memorable are what I call the "boss" leaders of some of the teams. Particular team leaders who interact with our characters and who are actively participating in the story outside of the battles or just being goofy. They often have (relatively) unique designs and at least one character gimmick but even then they are almost always lacking. Overall the animation is continuing in season 2's footsteps (it wouldn't surprise me if they were supposed to be one two cour season before the varus) and has some incredible moments in the actions scenes, and remains passable during the more static moments (ie: the vast majority of the show). I've always liked the score for world trigger but after hearing the same tracks for the thousandth time I would really like to hear some more variation. Maybe work on a new theme for Tamakoma-2 since Hyuse has joined them. Although music is rarely given the focus it deserves by generic anime (especially Toei anime). Overall, this season delivered on some incredible big brain fights and gave us a new direction for Chika. However it also has some very stale characterisation on pretty much everyone else to some degree. The extended cast is bloated and struggles to be memorable due to their poor characterisation and generic world trigger design. And the pacing and plot is barely passable and is in need of a major overhaul. As much as I like World Trigger, I think a lot of these issues will turn people off, and I'm haunted by the fact that this has to potential to be a masterpiece if more effort was put into the characters and pacing.

Let me start this review by saying: this is by far the most underrated series! More people have to watch it. Let me tell you some small things which makes this anime even better the more you watch of it! Firast of all I'm kinda hyped right now since I just saw the last episode and it didn't dissapoint in any regard! But let me tell you that I never thought I'd see the day where this anime would be continued and still maintain or even better raise the quality of the fights, story aspects and character development. The more you watch the more you're gettingyourself invested into everything it has to offer! First the fighting: over all these years, I've seen plenty of anime (over 13000 episodes) where the fights become either less relevant, more predictable and less logical over time! I could list a ton of anime which would fall under those criterias. World Trigger doesn't. It keeps the fighting aspect so interesting that I'm always learning something new, as well as technical or character wise. It strongly reminds me of Hunter X Hunter's kind of explaining techiques and how everything works, but even more accurate and resonable. The characters I already mentioned are very complex since they all have different motives, character traits and therefore different fighting styles which always fit in their teams. Some characters are more shallow than the one who are standing more in the spotlight, but this is totally understandable. What I really like is their uniqueness. Nowadays anime tend to maintain their typical tropes which you'll find in World Trigger, too, but not so overdone and more scarce, what makes it more enjoyable to watch. The artstyle fits perfectly the combination of serious fighting and relaxed, goofy moments. Especially the fights are very consistent animated and super enjoyable. And now combine the well fitting and recurring music and sounds to get you more and more excited, especially as they are fighting! :D At the end everthing fits perfectly together. I wouldn't enjoy the story as much as I do when there wouldn't be the rich development of the characters, since you need to get invested in them to empathize with them and their goals. And to top it you have those well explained and understandable fighting moments which not only helps to delevop the characters further, they maintain the suspense curve here and now, getting you hyped for more. I repeat, this is such an underrated anime, I strongly recommend it to everyone who likes a well explained / resonable world and fights. You need to watch it!

Another excellent addition to the World Trigger series, this season focuses on the end game of the B rank wars. Plenty of action packed fights, brilliant teamwork, strategic thinking and fun character dynamics on display once again. What makes World Trigger so good is simply how much intricate detail goes into the power system and the sheer scale of it's usage by the characters themselves. Next is the vast amount of great characters we are blessed with, each with their specific idiosyncrasies, each with their differing skill sets and background circumstances, etc, you can truly feel the dedication and love the mangaka has for theircreations, they all play a role in the development of the story or the development of the MCs themselves. You are interested in the relationship dynamics between all these boarder agents, you are interested in their history they have together, you are interested in the way they think and handle themselves, etc. Not many anime can pull off something like this, with such a sizeable cast like World Trigger can. If you've been watching since season one, it should come as no surprise that the battles/fights that take place are some of the greatest tactical shounen fights you'll ever hope to witness in anime, the detail involved is almost (if not) unrivaled, there's no asspull power ups or power of friendship saving the day, everything is calculated, every action has lead ups and consequences. Simply put, a joy to watch these battles take place. I don't think there's anything like this out there right now, or at least from what I've seen, and I've seen quite a lot. Personally, I don't watch World Trigger seasonally, one of the very few airing anime that I wish to binge in 1-2 days. It's that entertaining. The first season has it's flaws, but I suggest have a go, if you haven't started World Trigger yet. It just keeps on getting better and better. 9/10.
Bushogoma
This is honestly one of my all time favourite series. When I finished watching the first season, I had that 'I really wanted this to be longer' feelings (the announcement for the second season came much later). This anime just has a special place in my heart. Why do I love it so much? I have no idea and it doesn't really matter. Story: 9 The story of this particular season is not something special, however it does have huge stakes for the characters involved, more precisely for Tamakoma2. Even though the whole season is just Rank battles, the narrative is great, with twists and turns, outsmartingthe opponent's strategies and with good cliffhangers at the end of each episode. Art: 10 The animation is really good. It has improved greatly since the initial season and to be fair, it really enhances the fights and the action scenes. I don't think I have noticed any scenes where they cut corners in the animations, nor did I see any pesky CGI, which in some cases can be a huge eyesore. The designs of the characters, weapons and settings are a signature for this show and I really like when an anime has its own 'trademark' look. Sound: 10 At this point, hearing the main theme just gets me super excited and tells me that I should expect to see some sick action. When a show manages get the theme song in the viewer's head, then it means they did a good job composing the music. The beginning and the end themes are good and sit well with the anime's vibe. Characters: 10 The cream of this season was the character focus. I was glad to see much more character development for Hyuse, and I have a feeling we haven't seen all of it, which makes me excited for the future. Amatori-chan was also explored further, and I feel like this season really managed to establish her as the actual irreplaceable and OP squad member that she was meant to be. We also got to have a better look at some of the other squads, which were important for the plot in the past, but didn't get to have more spotlight. And, of course, I will always enjoy seeing Kuga on screen. He is hand down my favourite character in the entire series and one of my top 10 in anime in general. It seems I have a soft spot for short, goofy characters with messy hair. I wonder why:) Enjoyment: 10 This season was extremely enjoyable, proving that you don't need a 'save the human race' plot device to make an exceptional action anime. I also have to mention the fact that it is surprisingly enjoyable considering it's basically the link between 2 important arcs, and that it might be overlooked later, when seasons 4, 5, 6 etc (I hope) appear. Overall: 10 As I said, this is one of my favourite anime series of all time and this 3rd reason does not disappoint. I do think it should be on every anime lover's watchlist because it is just extremely well made, with highs and lows, episodes with big emotional impact, episodes with lighthearted humour, and very well choreographed fights and animation to sustain that. Go watch Wold Trigger:)

As someone who waited for more World Trigger since the first season, these last 2 cours have been nothing short of fantastic overall. Gone are the days where character models were a bit off and animation a bit sketchy, and now everything feels just right! If you are a fan of World Trigger, then you owe it to yourself to watch this season. Much like the second season, this season's animation has been quite on point, but these last couple of episodes and some of the highlights, which I won't mention, have had stellar animation. Animation that rivals that of Ufotable's from my perspective. The plotcontinues advancing forward with more rank wars, more great characters that help with world-building, deeper stories with emotional attachments and non-stop action except for down times. The sound fits well overall with the action and animation on display. If there's one way to sum things up, it would be that this is a must-watch season for any World Trigger fan due to the incredibly enjoyable experience! Here's to hoping that we get more seasons once the source gets more material. I'll be waiting!
