Synopsis
Tarou Kabakura, a third-year high school student and captain of the boys' volleyball team, is constantly being harassed by his underclassman Hanako Koyanagi, who is in charge of the girls' team. Koyanagi insists that since the girls have a match coming up, Kabakura should give up the courts to let them practice. When he refuses, she pulls out photographic evidence exposing his secret hobby. With the danger of his entire team finding out about his otaku interests looming over him, Kabakura agrees to hand over the volleyball courts to Koyanagi, giving her some private coaching as well. As the two grow closer, they begin to forge an everlasting bond. [Written by MAL Rewrite] Third OVA—covering the "employee trip" chapter(s) from the sixth tankouban volume—will be bundled with the special edition of the 11th and final volume of the manga which ships on October 14, 2021. Yea so tomboy wife and boymoding gf, yea this OVA goes hard. Wish this series got a second season, watching this OVA has me wishing for more since the main couple that the first season focused on was pretty bland for my liking. If I wanted socially inept guy and outgoing girl couple I'd just reread 'You and I are Polar Opposites', shade thrown, shots fired. Stories included in this series were really cute, I'm definitely satisfied with what there is in content, just not super familiar with the romance anime genre, and I've yet to really find much that is familiar to this series. Wotakoiis the right level of wholesome and mushy, that is to say not really mushy whatsoever, but still with enough substance to not feel like a waste of time. Maybe romances with characters primarily in their late 20s/early 30s is the answer, or at least when they're written by writers who are familiar with that sort of business!

Somehow these OVAa are better than the main series itself, it's disappointing they couldn't make the rest of the series like this. Ep1 and ep2 in particular were really good, focusing more on romance while maintaining everything that was good about the series. Ep3 was a nice touch too but I'd say it wasn't better or worse than the original episodes. If you felt like Wotakoi didn't have enough romantic elements you will have a blast watching these OVAs. Ironically it won't be about the main couple tho, except for ep3 which isn't very romantic, but they have some moments too.

A nice ending for Wotakoi. This shows the origins of the green haired girl and the orange haired boys origin of their love story. The first and third episodes were really nice. Second one misses the mark. I gave Ep. 1 a 3/3 2nd Ep. a 0/33rd Ep. a 3/3 And synergy of them all a 0/1 cuz of that 2nd episode So totally a 6/10 OP same and animation style same so it wasn't too bad. 6/10 could use a lot more content and while Kou's story is somewhat complete the rest of the stories are left hanging. Thanks! -CyanCheetah

Basically you've got three episodes with this OVA that will focus on each of the three couples of Wotakoi. I would say that the focus in the first two episodes that shifts the main POV away from the two main characters and into the side couples is very valuable, especially if you're a viewer who is going to move into the manga after watching the series. If you loved the Wotakoi characters, these episodes are going to give you everything you love about them all over again. Actually, some of the better parts of the series' tone and emotion was repeated in these episodes, too,and because they were bits of romance that had to be shown within an episode instead of over a season, I enjoyed the balance between humor and seriousness a lot more in these OVA episodes. Also, the animation improved a decent amount from the season that aired a year prior to this, so it was nice to see very polished moments between these characters that weren't always there in the series. I do think that, through the bits of relationship developments you're getting with these episodes, they do count as a sequel to the series. However, don't go into this thinking that major plot developments are going to happen because they're not. Much like the main series, the smallest of steps are taken each time something serious happens, so keep that in mind as you watch it. These episodes were a good bit of fun to watch, so give them a go if you liked the Wotakoi series.

I dropped the original series because the main couple is so boring. Yesterday i've seen a scene of kabakura and hanako on tiktok and i immediately watch this OVA. They are more interesting than the main couple. I enjoyed it more than the original series. This OVA makes me want to try completing the original series just so i can watch kabakura and hanako more. The story is well written. They show a flashback on high school life of kabakura and hanako. I wish they would make a spin off of these two. So overall i give it a 7. Thank you to the director formaking these OVAs

This acts essentially as a continuation of the main series, and it was impossible not to love these OVAs given how I felt about them. The characters really do grow on you, and I loved seeing their interactions, especially on the hot springs work trip in the third episode. It was also nice seeing more of Hana and Kabakura's background, and seeing things develop between Nao and Kou even more as they both begin to realise their budding feelings for one another. I really did want to yell at Narumi to just tell the poor boy that she loves him though, because Hirotaka is stillso uncertain about their relationship. That ending with them two in the kitchen and her asking him on a trip very nearly made up for it though, and honestly this was just very cute.

Disclaimer: I read the manga, so I feel I'm in position to give a more wholesome picture. No spoilers. The main couple of Wotakoi are Hirotaka and Narumi - the gaming addict and fujoshi doujinshi writer. These OVA episodes give some much needed attention to the two other less significant couples of the show. So, the first OVA is about the coming together of the most senior couple in Wotakoi - Kabakura and Koyanagi, or the casual otaku and the cosplayer, if you will. It's sort of a prequel, as it goes back to them both in high school. In context of the manga, their story waskind of spread over multiple floating chapters. This writer does that a lot and I hate it. Had I not watched this OVA before diving into the manga, I'd probably get somewhat lost. This episode was actually great. Second episode is kinda lacking. It deals with the youngest couple (to be) in the show and the least significant one - Naoya and Kou, or the dweeb (for lack of a better word) and the literal gamer girl. Really, their story was told in much greater detail in the manga. This OVA felt REALLY rushed. Can't say I enjoyed it much. But, it does its job for anyone who wanted to shed some light on the duo. Including the mysterious ending. This episode was so-so. Last one is just everything but the kitchen sink mashed up together. Worst one. I had some high hopes for it, because it was about the best arc in the story - the company resort. In the manga, this arc was primarily about Narumi and Hirotaka - with emphasis on Narumi falling even deeper for Hirotaka during their company's organized travel to a hot spring resort. But instead of giving us adequate coverage, we only got a quickie that didn't even cover the part where they went to a festival nearby and Narumi was hit on by a bunch of thugs and had to be rescued. This episode truly was the worst. As if it wasn't bad enough, after they already cut it so short, the third episode just proceeded to spoil events that are way further down the line in the manga. Like the wedding of Kabakura and Hanako, the progression of Naoya and Kou's relationship and Hirotaka going out with Narumi to vacations. They probably put all of that together because they know Wotakoi won't receive more anime adaptations.

Okay i haven't written any review in a while, so it's going to be short. I watched the 2 part OVA at a go and my favorite part is how you don't need to watch the previous anime to understand what is happening in the two stories. Basically it's a stand alone. Story 8/10 We got the main focus on the other couple, and their backstory was better than i expected. Pacing was good and personally i think the first OVA is the peak romance of the entire anime (i maybe biased). Art 7/10 it's pretty much the same as the previous one, soft and fluid enough that weenjoy the expressions, you know, the normal Art for Rom-com anime. Sound 7/10 I was a little bummed we got the same original theme songs from the anime for the first part (Not that i don't like the first part) i just thought it'll be different. Didn't really like the ending theme song for the second part cos it's a bit bland. Character 9/10 I loved how each character gets just enough screen time to understand their struggles especially for Nao & Kou, cos irl you find yourself doing the things your favorite person likes just cos they like it. Toaru and Hanako also brought the more mature feel to the anime. Let me just say the characters are amazing. Enjoyment 9/10 I enjoyed both part a lot, maybe one more than the other. it's light and fresh, and funny but not to much Overall 8/10 The balance is the best for me cos it really blends well, and even though Hirotaka and Narumi were not the mains their presence was still very strong. All i can say is for new comers its a breath of fresh air, for oldies who watched the previous anime, it's what you needed but you didn't know you'll need until after you're done watching.

If you're a fan of the main series, it's impossible not to enjoy these OVAs. While the focus is shifted away from our main couple, these episodes are undeniably sweet, and delve deeper into some of the side relationships that didn't get as much focus in the main series. My only complaint was that the second episode ended on a pretty unsatisfying note, though I can only hope that might be rectified in the future with another season. Overall though, the OVAs are very similar in tone to previous episodes, so there's no reason not to give them a watch.

A story on its own in the universe of the hard love life of nerds. I love it honestly, a very heart-racing story of falling in love, their first exchanges. You can clearly see how the connection grows from team captains to something more. The story is well written, a nice flashback on high school life of the two main characters of the show, the only thing that's sad is that we didn't get more episodes out of this, as it could easily be a story on its own. When it comes to OVA's I really don't like them as most of the time theydon't really give you anything important to the story, but this one just blew my mind. Expecting just some random side story, I got to experience when the main characters were in high school and had their first contacts. All in all worth watching even if you didn't watch the show. It will spoil a few things just a warning.

This works on it's own. I have not seen the show or plan to watch it, but I decide to watch this ova. The ova tells the background story of one of the couple of the show. It is sweet and funny. There is more romance in this 22 min ova than multiple episode anime. You don't need to watch the show to enjoy it. This is one of more realistic couple i have seen in anime too. They argue and fight, he isn't the most handsome and she isn't the most prettiest, they are a real couple instead of your princesmeet princess anime. If you are looking for something original you won't find it here i praise it for having realistic couple but it been done before. What it does it does right. They played safe with the story but it was still much fun.
