Synopsis
After witnessing the race between Takumi Fujiwara's Toyota AE86 and Keisuke Takahashi's Mazda RX7, Takeshi Nakazato from the Myougi Night Kids sends out a challenge to defeat the AE86 in a downhill battle. Despite his Nissan Skyline GT-R completely outclassing the AE86, Nakazato is told that he will never beat Takumi—a statement that enrages him. Believing that grip racing is far superior to flashy drift racing, Nakazato is dead set on defeating the AE86 to prove that he is the better racer. Thanks to Itsuki Takeuchi's hasty acceptance of the match on his behalf, Takumi is reluctant to get involved with the challenge and chooses not to race, stating that he is not a racer by any means. Overseeing the dilemma, Takumi's employer goads him into accepting. However, when Takumi returns home to get the AE86, he finds that his father has taken the car out for himself. As he waits for his father's return, Takumi begins to feel his itch to race grow ever more. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Better than the first one. They listened to the fans I suppose. I have been watching Initial D for over 10 years and remember when this came out. I was mostly just into the cars and did not pay attention to the story but I liked the racing. The story: Essentially similar to Legend 1 but a bit more character depth. I liked it. The animation: It was good CG technology grows over the years but I still am not a fan of the CG. I know its hard to animate fast cars like that but nevertheless it is still CG. The music: Tho no Eurobeat still, themusic is a bit better than last time. 4/10 The characters: Much much better than last time. They have a spine and are self-controlled now. Why you should watch it: Listen, if you are already this far in the Initial D rabbit hole you might as well you know. Final Score: 6/10 Thanks! -CyanCheetah

(No Spoilers, but being honest you likely watched the First Stage so if I had any it wouldn't matter to 99% of watchers) This Movie has the Nakazato Nissan R-32 GT-R and Shingo Honda Civic EG-6 Arcs of the First Stage of Initial D. Everything is the same as the TV show, with a major upgrade to the visuals (Full 1080P visuals with Widescreen support), which look like a mix of 3D rendering and drawing of the vehicles in many race scenes and it looks amazing. This does not even include the major bump up in visual quality of the characters, and in my opinion this artstyle and designs for characters look better than that of the Initial D Final Stage and fit in better with the original art style of Initial D, from both the Manga and the First Stage of Initial D. Although there is a lack of Euro-beat, that doesn't constitute a bad rating to the movie on its own (-1 to rating though because euro-beat is cool). There is also more lack of Mogi arc to the show, but to be honest I didn't see a decrease in quality to the story, and although shortened, it still is okay. Besides that nothing changed, I really enjoyed it and you will likely too. Tip: Turn on euro-beat in the background of the movie during race sequences to get that classic Initial D feel.
