What drew me towards this anime was the artwork and premise, it's a newer story coming from Japan, something that may stand out and possibly open a pathway for more similar styles of art and story. Taking all context from the story, and looking only at the plot, this series is very dry and repetitive. Unfortunately it attempts a good meaning, but leaving the characters forgettable or confusing to tell apart from one another. Without the diversity, personality (other than being trans), and substance. Some may find it difficult to relate to many of the characters. On the positive notes, beautiful artwork. I love thestyle, color palette, and clothing they present. The voice acting seems pleasant and subtitles also seem to flow nicely. I cannot fault a single artist in this creation. https://www.mtfxgroup.com/

Yuru Yuri is a franchise I've looked at quite a few times. And there's still more to it so I'll be looking at it again. Nachuyachumi came out in early 2015 as an hour long OVA. Is it as solid as the rest of the franchise? Let's have a look. Story: We open with the Amusement club struggling through a hot summer day. They discover some camping supplies and decide that it's a perfect opportunity for a camping trip. Naturally, they invite the girls of the student council along and hijinks ensue. Overall, most of the jokes do land pretty well. There are a fewthat feel forced or that go on a little too long but most of them work well. The OVA also falters a bit in that it doesn't take full advantage of its premise. They spend a lot of time with the trip plans and travel but when it comes to the actual camping trip it feels like they have some wasted opportunities because the OVA just isn't long enough. There are also a lot of cute scenes, particularly involving Sakurako and Himawari or Kyouko and Ayano. TYO did a solid job of maintaining the sense of fun and heavy yuri tones that the franchise is known for. Characters: Taken as a whole, the characters aren't deep but they're a lot of fun and they have strong comedic dynamics. The big exceptions are Akane and Chinatsu's older sister but they're barely in the OVA so it doesn't really matter that much that Akane is gross and Chinatsu's sister is entirely defined by her unrequited love for Akane. Art: The OVA has some solid visual gags and, aside from a few jokes that involve shifting the art style, it maintains the same art style as the rest of the series. Which looks bright and vibrant and has solid animation to back it up. Sound: The cast is excellent as always. Mikami Shiori, Tsuda Minami, Ootsubo Yuka, Ookubo Rumie, Katou Emiri, Mimori Suzuko, Toyosaki Aki, & Fujita Saki are all great in this and the more minor voice actors all do a solid job with their performances. The music suits the aesthetic well, it's boisterous and fun. Ho-yay: The big sources of les-yay in this one are Ayano and Kyouko's dynamic as well as Himawari and Sakurako's. There's also Chinatsu's blatant crush on Yui and her sister's feelings for Akane and Akane's unhealthy sister complex. Areas of Improvement: 1. The OVA would greatly benefit from an extra twenty to thirty minutes of content. 2. The bits with Akane and Chinatsu's sister don't really add anything. They're mercifully short but even so there's no reason for them to be here. 3. Slightly improved timing for those few jokes that drag a bit. Final Thoughts: This OVA is pretty damn good. It has a lot of fun, endearing moments and interactions. The acting is great. The art and music are nice and relaxing. It's just a very solid work. I'll give it an 8/10. It's definitely worth watching for any fans of shoujo-ai heavy slice of life.

This OVA is long and high budget enough to feel almost like a full feature anime movie. It has everything you want and have come to expect from Yuru Yuri, and coming off the second season you really start to feel like you know these girls, and it's a group of friends that you just want to see more shenanigans of. The idea of going camping was a fresh one for this series. Though they've had school trips before they were never all together for them, half the girls being different ages. So this was a nice chance to see all of them away from theordinary school setting. Even the siblings of the girls get some spotlight in this as we see what they're up to while everyone else is camping. Akane is my spirit animal. There's a scene at the bath house with a lot more direct fan service than the show typically has, if you're into it. I mean let's be honest, you probably wouldn't be watching this show if you didn't like loli and yuri anyway. That's pretty much what we signed up for and this delivers plenty on both counts. Yeah it's degenerate but it has the decency to play it up for comedy rather than actual eroticism. The comedy is still pretty on point, just like the main series. It has all your favorite tropes and running gags, it's got the girl who can't cook and buys the wrong thing at the store, it's got a test of courage and plenty of easily avoidable misunderstandings. Just the sort of thing I've come to love from my Cute Girl's Doing Cute Things anime. You may think it's trash and that people who like it have trash taste... and you're right. 8/10

First things first. My "reviews" system is explained on a blog entry. Which can be found through my profile. ------ Nice little 1 hour "movie". This time around Kyouko and her party decides to have a camping trip. I found this movie cute, lot of cute scenes, reactions, dialogues, nice jokes and their corresponding reactions. Overall quite enjoyable hour . Also the hard-boiled JoJo intro was also nice touch. Don't really have anything else to comment. Rest of opinions I have about this anime are pretty much same as previous seasons. Cute girls doing cute stuff is not going anywhere. Thus the short "review". Apparently the studio changed which changedquality in animation and a tad bit different feel opening and ending etc... Honestly, did not notice. Well probably because I'm not into this franchise this much to notice those differences. I found quality same good as other seasons. Nice, simple and cute style.

Ahh, watching this OVA reminded me of the day I went camping with my friends..How could I forget the pranks that they pulled on me or the urban legend about the deformed faces that we saw on the tree near our camping spot... [Story]: (8/10) The members of the Amusement club decides to go camping together for summer vacation, along with the members of the student council. The first 5 or so minutes of the OVA is one of the funniest scenes that I have ever seen in Yuru Yuri. It begins with what I'm assuming to be a parody of some Western Animation show and 4main characters deciding what they'll do on summer vacation. The characters talking in Engrish is what made this scene so goddamn hilarious. I did understand them.....barely. Their accents are so heavy but based from what I've heard, their English grammar wasn't off. Ohh, 100% Engrish Fluency right here folks. After that scene, the show is back to normal and we see the characters planning to go to summer camp and going to the summer camp. Compare the OVA's atmosphere to the Second Season's atmosphere and you'll notice a huge difference. That difference is the OVA feels a lot more relaxing and calmer. While some of the crazies that made us laugh in Season 2 are still here, most of it are gone. In exchange for a relaxing atmosphere, the comedy is not on par with the Second Season. I'm not, however, saying that the OVA's comedy sucks now. ______________________________________________________________ [Art/Animation]: (9/10) Before I watched the OVA, I wasn't aware of the studio changes so when I first saw the OVA, I was completely surprised by the animation. The environment looks more detailed and the background also looks more detailed. Hell, I was amazed when I saw their club room. The character design looks mostly the same except their hair looks more glossy and shiner and their eyes looks more detailed and shinier. I know this is an OVA but why no Akarin intro? I sure am going to miss that intro. ______________________________________________________________ [Sound]: (9/10) I noticed that the soundtrack that usually plays in the background has changed. Most likely because of the studio changes. For the most part, the OST's were pretty good. The OST that played during the scene where they were staring off at the sun was just.....beautiful..I wanted to cry..Heh, I'm being dramatic here. Now for the OP and ED theme song(s) The OP theme song is Yuruyurinrinrinrinrin" by Nanamori Chu?Goraku Bu and the ED theme song is "After School Days" by Nanamori Chu?Goraku Bu. The OP theme song is now officially my most favourite Yuru Yuri OP. It's better than all of the OP that I previous heard. The ED theme song sounded like this was going to be the final Yuru Yuri which depressed me quite a bit. ______________________________________________________________ [Characters]: (8/10) All of the main characters that you know and love from the first and second season are still here. There are some slight changes though. Akari is now treated like a protagonist meaning no more "Akarin" jokes. TOSHINO KYOUKO! seems to be less energetic compared to the previous seasons but she is still energetic and she's still immature. Yui is still the same ol' mature middle school girl and Chinatsu still "loves" Yui. Most of the side characters are also here. Although, I'm only going to mention Ayano and Chitose. Based on what I've seen, Ayano is now beginning to switch to her dere dere side and Chitose's yuri fantasy looks a lot better than the previous seasons. ______________________________________________________________ [Enjoyment]: (9/10) Even though the amount of comedy has reduced, I still enjoyed this OVA. This was worth 1 hour of my life. ______________________________________________________________ [VERDICT] Out of all the OVA's that I have watched so far, this is currently the most relaxing OVA I have ever seen. Never before has an OVA made me relax for 1 hour of my day. If you're a Yuru Yuri fan then this OVA is a must watch. [OVERALL]: (9/10) Pros: +Relaxing atmosphere +Impressive OP and ED theme songs from a new studio +Animation looks better than the previous seasons +Hilarious intro scene +Akari is now treated like a protagonist again Cons: -

Yuru Yuri Nachuyachumi! is an hour-long OVA featuring the girls during their summer vacation. It's a great watch, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the show. Story: 8 As with most slice-of-life shows, the story isn't intense. Everything is relaxation, cutesy, and comedy. The plot of this movie-length episode is a camping trip the girls go to, courtesy of Kyouko (who seems to have everything planned out). It's nothing special, but I liked the way that the plot moved smoothly and slowly. Art: 9 The art hasn't changed a lot from the original series, although I've heard that the quality seems to have improved a lotmore. For sure, the animation has smoothed edges and the quality is definitely solid. The characters are consistently drawn and still cute, and the environments are beautiful and stuff. Sound: 8 A nice thing about Yuru Yuri is the variety of music. Each character has a different half-time track, there's music during the episodes, and the opening and ending music may be odd but it's still nice. There's unique music for this OVA, and it's pretty good, so no complaints here. Character: 9 The characters in the OVA are the same cast from the show. They still have their characteristics and personalities and traits, but everybody seems much more laid back. What I mean by that is during main season, all the comedy includes laughing at someone: i.e. Akari's not being there, Kyouko's randomness, Chinatsu's fawning over her "senpai".. But for the length of this OVA, while there are still the typical comedy moments, there aren't as many. It's more calm, people actually notice Akari, and Kyouko doesn't come off as excessively random. This movie captures the true essence of life without constant comedy. In short, it's relaxing but not boring. Enjoyment: 10 I liked this a lot. An hour well spent: The show itself looks great and sounds great, the characters are adorable and all that. Not a lot else to say, this is definitely worth a watch if you're a fan of Yuru Yuri and slice of life in general.

What's better than a 24-minute episode of our favorite Yuru Yuri anime? An OVA that is 1 hour long. Yes, that's 60 minutes of Yuri Yuri's cute cast. Is it really worth watching for an hour, or is this OVA a bust. JAPANESE LEARNERS (2/5 Easy to Understand) Yuru Yuri still manages to be an easy anime to understand without subtitles if you are at the intermediate and advanced levels. It may just be me, but after watching Yuru Yuri seasons1 and 2, I've come to the realization that the grammar and vocabulary used in this show is rather simplistic. No matter, if you are a beginner, feel free to use this anime as a tool for your Japanese learning. STORY For a one hour OVA, there really isn't too much of a plot to be expected. In short, the girls go on a camping trip during the summer. Yes, I know what you ecchi fans are thinking (I'm one myself). Why the heck are they going on a camping trip doing the summer? What about the beach? Yes, the beach. The number one place where our cute Yuru Yuri cast can be seen in tight bikinis and school swimsuits. Ah, but I have some good news, my ecchi friends. If you are patient and wait until the near end of the one-hour episode, you are treated to an osen scene where you get to see all the characters butt-naked. That's pretty much it for the story, though. They should've gone to the beach. ANIMATION/ART I was really impressed with the animation. It might be because the developers had a lot of time and budget money to work on this OVA. The character models are fascinating. Also, there are two scenes which were reminiscent of a Miyazaki Hayao film. The camping scenes in the forest were also nice and made me feel as I was camping too, if only it would have been the beach, though SOUND There was nothing special about the sound this time around. The OST was that of a typical slice of life anime. I will say that I did enjoy the cicadas and cricket noises as it is a perfect summer noise. I would have loved some campfire music since most of the scenes were taking in the forest. Just don't expect any Clannad OST here. CHARACTERS By this time around, you should be really familiar with the characters so I won't go in-depth with them. However, I am proud to say that all the main characters are in this episode. In the original season, certain characters appear in certain episodes so if you hated one certain character then that particular episode might have been painful for you to watch. Thankfully, there is a 99.9% chance that you will get to enjoy your favorite cute Yuru Yuri character in this episode. FINAL VERDICT/ENJOYMENT Let me get right down to it. No beach. There I said it. Who goes camping during the summer. Why couldn't they just go to the beach. I wanted to see bikini-clad Yuru Yuri chicks.(っ˘̩╭╮˘̩)っ Okay, despite that detrimental setback, this one hour OVA was rather quite good. It wasn't as funny as a regular Yuru Yuri episode and there weren't many parodies, but it was well worth a watch. Like my reviews? Want to learn Japanese? Stop by my profile and leave me a message. As always, hope you enjoy my review and thanks for reading until the end.

Knowing that a third season was in the works, I was more excited than I was for any other anime in a while. Well, unless Pani Poni Dash would hurry up and get another season already. What you expect to get out of this OVA is the entrance to the plot of two more OVA episodes that continue the story. This one is a simple episode, albeit elongated to an hour; and yet, it felt like I was only watching a single episode in terms of time This one offered the most beautiful art, character development and comedy yet without feeling too bland at all. Itcan easily give anyone a smile with its realistic comedy and reactions that you rarely get in other anime these days. It is truly a heartwarming in every way. The main difference is that part of the original crew did not return, so expect some slightly different humor, but only slightly, when comparing to the prior two seasons. Likewise, the backgrounds now feature more detail than ever before. Fortunately, the characters are still the same. If you ever have the opportunity, pick up the DVD for this one as it will be one to come back and rewatch again and again. It is a full hour of casual ゆるゆり at its finest yet. If you are a purist of the earlier episodes, you might notice the aforesaid changes. Otherwise, you might scoff it off entirely. Either way, do not miss out on this third season opener, given the actual third season shares the same title as this OVA, but simply adds a plus to it; implying you will see more of what was offered in this OVA. And what you do get is another season of an incredibly underrated anime that many brush off due to believing it to be hentai. Whenever you get the chance, give this revival OVA a try. For hardcore fans, the new staff do not alter the flow of the anime too much at all and it still feels the way it did a few years back.

Yuru Yuri is an anime about middle school girls having fun, quite a simple idea, but its been handled extremely well and the characters, while mostly cliche, work because they interact well with each other. Yuru Yuri itself as a whole was a solid 8 for me - before this OVA.In the previous seasons, though the basic premise was all too common in anime, the characters were fun to watch and most of the jokes were over the top and different, not cheap cliche ones. This OVA seems to be produced by a different production house, and they totally butchered it.It has became too tame and conformist, and the jokes, and they are relatively rare and below average compared to the previous seasons, are just not funny enough to stick in our memory. This is 1 hour long, and it could easily have been condensed into 30 minutes. Many cheesy dialogues have been forcefully inserted and seem out of place.Mushy dialogues made me cringe while watching it. This is for those who know have seen the previous seasons of Yuru Yuri.Kyouko, as those who have watched Yuru Yuri before will attest, had always been a fun and unpredictable character, but in this OVA, she has become dull and far less interesting. The Akarin jokes have dried up, and Ayano is a perfect tsundere. And whats with Himawari and Sakurako being all 'friendly' friendly?Did i miss something important wherein they stopped making fun at each other and instead started complimenting each other?! If you are a hardcore fan of Yuru Yuri, you might enjoy it, but for others, like me, who thought it was a very good but not an excellent series, this will feel like a totally different series and not an enjoyable one at that.Since the 3rd season is also being produced by the same production house as this one, i dont have much hope for it.But i will probably watch it when it airs for old times sake. Bottomline is that this is so forgettable that tomorrow i will probably be surprised at myself for having watched and reviewed it too.

Most appraisals of YuruYuri commend its uniqueness that defied the cliches associated with the Moe-Slice of Life genre, as well as its vast potential as a series. As of today, the legacy of YuruYuri is safely carried on by the newest iteration in the series, YuruYuri Nachuyachumi. The story of Nachuyachumi can never be described in a few general terms because it is separated into two distinct parts: The OVA originals and the manga adaptations. I will review them separately. Firstly, the OVA originals mostly consist of the camping trip story arc. Unfortunately, to many viewers a camping trip might seem vapid and mundane. However, bear inmind that a camping trip is also the type of endeavor which is challenging and rewarding enough for middle school girls to earnestly take part in. Secondly, the Manga adaptations offered subtle delights to those who read the manga. It must be mentioned that the Engrish scene is adapted from one of the funniest manga chapters. Although most adaptations are inspired by interesting chapters, the highlight is how seamlessly the adapted stories mesh with the Camping arc. The art of Nachuyachumi made a significant improvement over the previous anime. To be fair, I would say the two aspects of improvement are fluidity of animated movements and complexity of the art. Last but not least, Nachuyachumi sustained YuruYuri's trend of having good OP/EDs. The OP retained the distinct jingle that defined YuriYurararaYuruYuri Dijiken and Koi no Bakkin Buckingham. The ED made a break with tradition as it emphasizes on cherishing time at school. It is well made; the melody fits the theme even without help from the translated lyrics. All in all, with Nachuyachumi and another anime project in place, I believe that YuruYuri is on the way to become a fully fledged franchise.

They did everything right with this one, and everyone who has seen the previous two seasons should watch this, or at least if they want to experience the most relaxing and beautiful OVA ever. I know you do. In this hour-long episode, the Yuru Yuri girls travel on a camping trip, which totally hasn't been done before by anyone. The first thing you'll notice is the new animation. It's beautiful. If you exclude the five minute Engrish opening scene, the OVA radiates an aura of calmness and serenity, which actually diverts quite a bit from the usual show, but it's done in such a way thatyou can't do anything but enjoy it. Whether the girls are toying around at school, or chilling up in the mountains, the episode is pure eye candy (camping episodes are perfect for eye candy material and mandatory nature shots!) and the sounds are so calm that it'd cure insomnia if you'd choose to sleep to it. It's like they put the Yuru Yuri characters in Non Non Biyori (check that anime out if you enjoyed this). I'm very glad that the OVA touches all the things that made the show great, from the running gags, to the supporting characters, and all the other details that ties the show together. They paid attention to it all, and they didn't go overboards with it either, so it totally feels like Yuru Yuri without it feeling too forced. So yeah, we get a new OP and ED, an hour-long episode with our favourite moeblobs, and one of the most relaxing, fun and beautiful OVAs I've watched, so of course I'll recommend this to Yuru Yuri fans. It'll get you hyped for season 3. 10/10

Watching YuruYuri Nachuyachumi is like reuniting with an old friend, and the spark of friendship reignites. I remember when I watched seasons one and two back in 2012, and I liked it a lot. However, the ending for the second season felt incomplete, and that has bothered me for a long time. Thus, when this OVA was announced, I was so hyped that you wouldn't even believe it! Luckily, the hype I had was well worth it. In case you're not familiar with YuruYuri, it's basically a slice-of-life centering around around four middle school girls, Akari Akaza, Kyoko Toshino, Yui Funami, and Chinatsu Yoshikawa. Akari, Kyoko, and Yui are childhood friends who form the Amusement Club, a club where they basically slack off and do whatever the heck they want. Did I mention that they have taken over the room of the now-defunct Tea Club? Chinatsu, who is a classmate of Akari's, comes into the Amusement Club room hoping to join the Tea Club, but she ends up joining the Amusement Club instead. Hilarity and maybe a touch of yuri ensues. In this OVA, it's summer break, and the Amusement Club, along with a few member's of the Student Council (Ayano Sugiura, Chitose Ikeda, Himawari Furutani, and Sakurako Oomuro), are camping! Now, doesn't that sound like fun? Now, I'm not going to lie; this OVA, along with the series itself, is very cute. The story is a very relaxing one, and there are a lot of funny moments. For example, when one of the characters, Chitose, takes off her glasses, she has yuri fantasies about Kyoko and Ayano. Not funny enough? Okay, then what if she has nosebleeds when she does? Laugh-inducing yet? As always, the characters are quite fun to watch, especially Chitose and Akari. (Who? Don't worry; that's an inside joke.) The OP and ED for this OVA are really cute, as well, and as always, the voice actresses fit their roles quite well. Now, let's talk about the animation. The animation studio for seasons one and two of YuruYuri was Dogakobo, but the animation studio has changed to TYO Animations. It's not too hard to notice, either. That's okay, though, because the animation is actually pretty good. YuruYuri Nachuyachumi was overall a good episode of YuruYuri and a good OVA overall. Is it the best? No, not really. However, it does make me remember how much I liked the series when I watched it a few years ago. I'm also looking forward to the upcoming third season!

If you're reading this, I'm going to assume you've seen both seasons of Yuru Yuri already, and wondering how the OVA stood up to the original aired series. In short: It was everything all Yuru Yuri fans wanted (and needed!). With the exception of the first five minutes, which was a funny engrish over the top parody scene. The entire OVA stayed true to all of the characters, and any returning fan will be very pleased with how they brought back their favorite characters. Another great element they kept bringing back were the running jokes from the series. Ayano's Puns, Chinatsu's terrible art, Akarin's nonexistence, and most of the others are here too. None of the jokes ever seemed forced or rushed either, the entire time it legitimately felt like a Yuru Yuri episode. I was a little worried it'd just be another shitty OVA made by the company for some quick sales, but that was definitely not the case. I want to keep this short, but to TLDR everything, I'd say if you enjoyed Yuru Yuri, you'll enjoy this. It was an amazing feeling to be able to watch my favorite show again and laugh at the same type of humor Yuru Yuri brings to the table. Here's to hoping season 3 soon!

It's been almost 2,5 years of waiting but Yuru Yuri is finally back! Assuming you've seen both seasons of the TV-series prior to this, there is little need for introduction and thus I will keep this short. It's the same good old character cast as it has always been; Akari's hair buns are still detachable, Chinatsu's artistic skills are still frighteningly bad and TOSHINOU KYOUKO is still as whimsical and energetic as ever in her tomato outfit. In this 1-hour OVA, after a rather... *unexpected* opening scene, the story is about the whole group going on a camping trip in the summer. It's a very typical slice-of-lifestory without any unusual elements attached to it. However the comedy, the light Yuri moments and the relaxing atmosphere of the series is still as good as it ever was, showing that Yuru Yuri's concept is far from dead yet. Furthermore we get brand new opening and ending themes for this special alone, both of which are very catchy in typical Yuru Yuri fashion. I also felt like the animation quality was all-round improved here compared to the TV-series. Overall, while simplistic this OVA still manages to once again show why Yuru Yuri is and always has been one of the absolute best slice-of-life moe comedies in the anime industry, and it should thus be considered a must-watch for anyone willing to call themselves a fan of the original series. As a final note, at one point this OVA also gave an implication that the show may return in the future in some shape or form. So... season 3 when? EDIT: As of March 7th, Yuru Yuri 3rd Season has now been confirmed~ :)
